Sitting in a meeting this morning with mostly Midwestern higher-ed CIO's and the like. A major theme that came up was the idea of more than 50% of baby boomers soon being eligible for retirement. At many of the schools represented, they felt like the majority of the management at their institutions fell into this demographic. How do they help "junior staff" transition into management roles? What skills need to be improved, and what fundamentals are being missed?
