Where Blackboard is going

I'm excited about where Blackboard is going as a company. Through the leadership of Ray Henderson, and many others, they have managed to re-align themselves with the needs of education. They are working with us to try to directly address unique needs and complications of our environment - rather than feeding the perception that they are only interested in satisfying their shareholders. Listening & alignment are huge, and need to continue to make progress.

On the technology front, Blackboard has made just as exciting progress. I especially appreciate the contributions of leaders like Mark O'Neil, George Kroner, and Scott Hurrey & the amazing work they have done to ensure that Blackboard pushes Building Block development forward – ensuring that Blackboard technology is standards compliant and open. Blackboard needs to continue to build their own new technologies to use the same API set that clients use. More importantly they need to continue their commitment to opening and documenting more APIs when they will allow clients to innovate and add value to the core products.
