A broken cycle

It seems to me that there is a natural cycle in which the arts articulate the human condition and the problems that face our species. The sciences investigate the problems that face us; while engineers use those results to improve upon the problems, which elevates the human condition and starts the cycle over again.

STEM programs that don't include the arts break this cycle, while depriving themselves of the best way to articulate their own results to the outside world.
